Pontiac Repair: transmission problem on a grand am 99 gt, grand am gt, bad tire

Question
I have a 1999 Grand Am GT and when I put it in drive or reverse it bangs and it's the most painful sound, its been doing it for a month and I'm afraid something will eventually break...It also bangs in first gear extremely hard, it bangs in the rest of the gears too, but not as bad as first, drive, and reverse. The car pulls like it is really weak since that started also... I know its not the transmission because the whole thing wouldn't act up at one time... Any advise would help a lot

Answer
Hi Omar:

I'm not a transmission guy But I have An idea as to what the issue is. The issue is more than liley an internal problem in the transmission. Either a pressure control soelnoid/valve is sticking or an accumulator is bad in the transmission. Either way it's going to have to come apart to find the issue. As far as it pulling It can be a bunch of things from a bad tire to a tire that is low on air pressure. If you hit a pothole it could have thrown out the alignment. Good luck :)
