Pontiac Repair: 89 trans am vats, steering column, unhooked

Question
I just put an engine and transmission in an 89 trans am. I have power to the starter, but not the solenoid. I think the vats is the problem. is there a reset on the vats, if so how do I reset it? If not, do you have any other ideas?

Answer
Hey Dennis:

No there is not a reset for the pass-key system on this car. Either when you replaced the engine and transmission you have something that is unhooked or unplugged or forgot to attach a ground wire somewhere or you indeed have a pass-key issue here. These were noted for the wires in the steering column to break for the ignition lock that is the part that reads the chip in the key. It may just be coincidence that it quit working after you replaced the engine/trans. Good luck :)
