Pontiac Repair: 98 Transport power door lock issue..., power door locks, wire colors

Question
I have a 98 Transport Montana, 3.4L, and the power door locks will not lock with either of the interior switches. Lost the remote, so I can't test using that. When driving, the doors will lock after a certain speed. Have checked behind the kick plate, and the wires there are bone dry and perfectly fine. I have also tried pressing the lock button on the driver's side with the door open, and noticed there is no chime. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Paul:

this is a common issue with tehse vans. It more than likely has a water leak into the van and the wire harness under the right had side of the car under the door sill plate and carpet there is a wire harness and the splice packs for the door lock wiring corrode out. If you pulled out the kick panles you may not have seen the issue it's further down the harness. Lift up the carpet and remove the tape from the wire harness half way betwwen the fire wall and the passenger seat and you will find the problem the wire colors your looking for are light blue and white. Fix the corroded wires and the locks should work again. Good luck :)
