Pontiac Repair: Removing Jammed 2007 Montana SV6 Mid-Deck Seats, pontiac montana sv6, pontiac montana

Question
Hi Todd! I have a 2007 Pontiac Montana SV6, RWB, 1SB option package.  I previously had a 2003 Montana and had no difficulties removing/replacing the mid-deck seats. Did it often, never a problem. In the 2007 model, I put the seats in and now find I am unable to free them...I've ripped the pull-strap on one and can't move the other release bar. Is there a way for a D-I-Yer to release them? My deaslership has offered to 'look' at them...for a minimum of $44.00. Is there a way to remove the mounts then figure out how to remove the seats? I also have a check engine dashlight that has cvome on and gone off sporadically since new. Help?

Answer
Hey Jim:

well It's hard to say why the seat is jammed without seeing it. Usually something gets stuck in between the seat and the fllor and it jams up the seat release. It's very rare that they just break off like this.. You may be able to get a long screw driver in under the seat and lift the lever that the strap was attached to and release it that way. have some one rock the seat back and forth while you try to relase it If it's jammed the rocking motion may free it up.. As for the service engine light it could be anything. There are so many sensors that monitor the negine functions that it can be just about anything froma faulty sensor to a loose wire connection.. This is a 2007 van? If it has less then 36,000 miles the repair should be covered under warranty... That is if the seat is not jammed up from something stuck between the floor and the saet that would not be a warranty repair... Good luck :)
