Pontiac Repair: p0402 code excessive egr flow, egr flow, emission system

i have a 2001 grand am and my engine light came on so i scanned it and said excessive egr flow i have 2.4 liter engine and as far as can tell there is no egr valve i cant seem to find the problem can you help

Some of those cars have a valve ands some do not. It depends on what emission system is on the car federal or California/NY emission system. IOf it indeed has a valve it's under the big plastic cover for the throttle body on the left side of the car. If you were using an genaric scan tool the codes could be incoreect. If the car is equipped with a valve it could be stuck open partially that is pretty common. Good luck :)
