Pontiac Repair: Window will not raise, pontiac montana, brown wires

Question
We were driving when my wife discovered she could not raise the front passenger window on our 2004 Pontiac Montana.  I was not able to raise it from the driver's side switch either.  If you attempt to lower the window further it will move down slightly (it is at the bottom of the travel now) and then move back to the original position.

Answer
Hi Eric:

Well it could be 2 things. Either the switch is bad or the window regulator is bound up and the motor will not allow the glas to rise back up out of the door. If you have a volt meter take the switch out of the door and check the voltage acreoss the dark blue and brown wires in the switch when you press the switch in one direction it shoudl show (+) battery volatge when you push the swithc the other way it should show (-) battery voltage if not the switch is bad. If it does the motor/regulator assembly in the door is bad. Good luck :)
