Pontiac Repair: Grand Prix DIC mileage ERROR, trip odometer, functions work

Question
2006 Grand Prix (base model), 5-button DIC. The DIC suddenly started displaying "ERROR" for the mileage (regular and trip odometer). All of the other functions work and no fault codes appeared on a scanner.  Does the lack of P- or B-codes indicate a DIC problem (connection or internal)?

Answer
Hi Mark:

well if there are no codes ina any modules on this car I would tend to think the issue is withe the DIC it's self. The data lines in this car send i nfo fro  one module to the next. if there were a data line issue it could read "error" but if no othere module has any codes then I would suspect the DIC it's self is bad or maybe it has a bad connection going to the dic it's self and it's not receiving the proper data.. If you have access to a wiring diagarm amke sure it has powers and gounds and the data circuit voltage does fluctuate. good luck :)
