Pontiac Repair: Grand prix supercharged skip/miss on light accel, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
QUESTION: My supercharged grand prix has a miss under light accell sometimes up grades,
at engine speeds 1500 to 2000 rpm. has had recall done, new wires, replaced
one coil , towers were rusted.

ANSWER: Hi Don:

well it can be a few things. How does the engine idle? does it idle faster than usual? These engines were noted for vacuum leaks between the super charger and the lower intake manifold. with it running try spraing some carb cleaner between the manifold and super charger especially in the front under the nose assembly of the super charger. There is also a vauum hose there. Another possability is dirty injectors. try a product called Chevron Thechron in the tank. did this issue crop up after the plugs and wires and coils were changed or was it there prior to this reapir? Does it have AC Delco plugs in it? Good luck :0

QUESTION: Todd, this car runs perfect except for that instance. No rough idle, stall stumble
or check engine lights. It is even hard to get it to do it unless your in the right
circumstance. I did run bosch platinums in it. Don

Answer
In that case skip the vacuum leak idea but still look into a possable dirty injector. Also ditch the Bosch plug sand go with ac delco ones. I'm a firm beliver is use what ever it came with from the factory. You may also want to try this unplug the mass air flow sensor and drive it and see what happens. It will hesitate froma a stop and the service engine lamp will come on but see if the "skip is gone" if so the sensor may just be dirty.
