Pontiac Repair: 96 Sunfire 2.2 engine swap, crank shaft, crank sensor

Question
2.2 engine swap both 96 sunfire models ,original ckp wire harness has 4 pins the replacement only had 3 pins so i swapped out ckps put the original one on so wiring would fit ,  ckp wasnt identical but fit perfect.  It turns but does not start, no fire at plugs.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hey Jose:

Are you sure they were both engines form the exact same year and the same engine? The 8'th didgit in the vin on both cars should have been the same # or letter. If not the engine are NOT the same. and they had different electronics on them. If they were not equipped the same your in trouble. The reason one crank sensor had 4 wires and one had 3 was because they were NOT the same and by swapping the crank sensors the reluctor wheel on the crank shaft is different and will not pick up the proper signal. Your sure it was the crank sensor and not the CAM sensor?
