Pontiac Repair: 02 Grand am guage, other lights still out, blown fuses, auto lamps

Question
QUESTION: Hi Todd,
You provided an answer to this question a few days ago: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Pontiac-Repair-828/2009/2/02-Grand-instrument-lights.

Since then I have replaced the switch but still no luck. Could it be a bad BCM?

ANSWER: Hi Sam,
Yes it could be but I would look to make sure you don't have any blown fuses. The old swithc may have malfunctioned and poped one of more fuses. that car has 3 fuses boxes. 1 under the bood and one on each side of the dash look there first before you strta throwing parts at this. Also you need a bi directinal scann tool that will work with this car to set up the new body control module it has to be prorammed/set up to match the car.

QUESTION: I have checked all the fuses in all three compartments. There aren't any blown.

Answer
Okay refresh my memory here. I have answered a bunch of grans Am issues this week already and they are all similar And this thread only has part of your question in it. I know you originally had some sory of a turn signal issue and you tried clesning the contacts out and after that what lights quit working?? The parking lights and dash lamps??? they do not work withe the headlamp swithc our the auto lamps when the car is running in and gear? Or just with the column mounted switch? what lamps do not work and what lamps do work? Your question earlier about a bad BCM is possable but I wouldn't guess at it due to the price and the procedure you need to replace it you need a GM scan tool to program and set up a new body control module. Your sure the parking lamp fuse in the under hood fuse box is not blown? There is also a park lamp relay in the under hood box switch that relay with a nother one in the box that has the same part # stamped on the top of it and see what happens..

Good luck :0
