Pontiac Repair: 1999 pontiac montanna, ac delco spark plugs, pontiac montanna

Question
QUESTION: I want to know what is the best way to change spark plugs on the backside of the motor, considering its so close to the firewall.

ANSWER: Hi Eric:

Ther is NO easy way to change them. Either from under the van to break the plugs free and then take them out of the top or just try the whole job from the top. Either way it's not easy. f you get your self a 5/8" spark plug socket with a universal on the end of it it will make the job easier. But you have to do a lot of reaching up and over to get to them. Why your ther get your self a new set of spark plug wires as well. You will NOT be able to get the wires off the plugs without damaging them. The heat seizes the wires onto the plugs over time. Good luck:)
P.S. Use only AC Delco spark plugs.

QUESTION: Hello Todd, on the 99 pontiac montanna what sensors would make this car misfire, as if it would need a tune up. Your help is much appreciated.

Answer
I take it your replaced the pulgs and wires? is it running the same way it did prior to replacement or is it running worse now? if it's worse now maybe yiu crossed a plug wire or cracked a spark plug intalling one of them?? If it runs the same way the possably you have an ignition coil or module going bad. there really isn't a sesnor that would make it misfire. You could have an issue withe the crank shaft position sensor or the wirning between the sensor and the module but that would casue differrnt issues like stalling and lack of power. has any service engine lamp come on? All of the big box auto parts store scan the systems for codes see if any codes are stored and go from there.
good luck :)
