Toyota Repair: 94 toyota reg cab pickup 4-cyl 4X4, piece driveshaft, reg cab

Question
I had my clutch replaced back in August of 2005 and now have problems with the 4 wheel drive.  It seems sluggish (it seems to pitch and roll a little when the steering wheel is turned and like it is having a hard time moving -- makes a popping sound)when in 4 wheel drive after I tested it in a wet parking lot and then it would not come out of 4 wheel drive.  Would it be something to do with the something that happened when the clutch was replaced to make it do that?
Also, I think that the hed gasket is leaking and would like to know how much you would think it would cost to replace it.
Thanks

Answer
The popping sound may be there because the front driveshaft has been reinstalled in an out of phase condition causing the U-joints to bind up when turning and making it difficult to get out of 4x4.
The U-joints need to be installed in phase(in line) I know the U-joints don't have to be removed when removing the transmission but the driveshaft does and since it is a two piece driveshaft and may have been seperated and not put back together correctly it will cause this problem.
Headgasket replacement can run anywhere from $600-$1,000 it depends on who does the repair.
