Pontiac Repair: 2001 chevy express 2500 cargo van 5.7l v8, chevy express, techron

Question
I replaced my fuel pump and a week later started having problems with injectors.  How do I clean them? or should I replace them? 115,000 miles. When I start it, it dies then I have to pump gas peddle 10-15 times before it will start again?

Answer
Hi Rob:

this has poppet style fule injectors in it. They need to be cleaned with a pressure cleaner. if indeed that is the issue with this. You can try a product made by Chevron called Techron. That works the best of the add it to the tank types. Has any service engine lamp come on? Did you replace the filter? If not do that now. did you put in a aftermarket pump or an Original equipment one? Pumping the gas should have no effect on the way it starts. The injectors on this truck are expensive and are a royal pain to change. I would try having them cleaned with a pressure cleaner meaning the truck will run off the cleaner only not the pump in the tank. the cleaner is more concentrated that was as well. Good luck :)
