Pontiac Repair: 98 grand am trunk, lock cylinder, penetrating oil

how do i get into the trunk of a 98 grand am if the release isn't working and you the seats don't fold down

Hi Zach:

well the east way is to try to free up the lock cylinder so the key will turn. Try a product called PB blaster It' a penetrating oil that works great. spray it in the lock cylinder and try just working the key in an out a bunch if times then try turning the cylinder to see if it will turn then. If not you will have to take the back seat out. The bottom section just lifts up and out. the back part of the seat is bolted in. once you remove the bolts the seat will lift up and out. Then you can reach in with a very long screwdriver and turn the back side of the latch an open the trunk. Good luck :)
