Pontiac Repair: 91 Pontiac Firebird wont restart when warm, pontiac firebird, engine computer

Question
Hi Todd, I have a 91 Pontiac Firebird that won't restart within an hour after being driven, if you wait 4-5 hrs or more (cold) it works. Diagnostics showed that there was no fuel injector pulse at start condition ,fuel pressure good, spark is present. Replaced computer prom and engine still intermittent no start, replaced distributor, replaced fuel filter, added engine cleaner and still no start condition. What else could cause this?

Answer
Hi Jeff:

what engine is in this car? tbi or multiport injected? Are you sure that it's loosing injector pulse when hot? Did this problem occure after changing one of these parts or were these parts changed while trying to chase the no start condition? Have you check for spark as well when it will not start? that can give a hint as to what the issue may be if it's loosing spark as well it's an ignition/distributor issue I know you said you replaced it but it can still be an issue. Has this set any trouble codes in the computer? the distributor/ignition module is the trigger to the engine computer to pulse the injectors so if there is an issue with that you caould loose injector pulse and spark as well. How about all your power and grounds going to the computer. if you have an issue with one of these the computer will act up as well. especially a bad ground connection. Good luck :)
