Pontiac Repair: Pcv and coolant leak, coolant leaks, intake manifold gasket

Question
Hey Todd,
I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT.  I actually have 2 questions.  First where in the world is the PCV on my car.  I work on cars alot and this is bothering me.  I looked everywhere on the top of the engine and cannot find it.  Second Question is Which part of the manifold leaks coolant the most. The upper or lower intake manifold gasket.  I know GM has an issue this engine for coolant leaks in that area.  Do I need to replace the upper or upper and lower intake manifold gaskets.  Oh yeah almost forgot its a 3.8L V6 but I bet you already know that.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Greg:

The pcv valve is under the plastic cover where the MAP sensor is on the top of the intake manifold plenium near the alternator on the front of the engine. Make sure when you replace the valve that you don't forget to swap the o-ring that is under the old one to the new valave. and to anser your coolant leak question the upper plenium's warp on these from all the heat cycles they are made of a plastic composite replace the plenium and the gasket. Good luck :)
