Pontiac Repair: 1997 Sunfire, power locks, lock cylinder

Question
My 1997 Sunfire will not start. I have noticed a number of
electrical problems going on lately, ie: windows won't
always close, anti-theft feature activates if you try to
use the power locks. I believe maybe one of the kids tried
to use the power locks, tripping the anti theft feature.
However, I cannot get it to start at all this time. The
alarm light blinks all of the time now and I hear a
clicking sound whenever I try to start it. Is there a way
to dismantle the anti theft thing? Help! Thanks!!!

Answer
Hi Suzanne:

well it sounds like you have some sort of an anftermarket alaram system on this car or a remote starter added to the car??? I would have that disconnected first and foremost. then if your still having issues and the Factory anti-theft ssystem is acting up deal with that part of the problem. If the factory system is acting up the security lamp will come on or will flash on the dash. The factory system has nothing to do with the car cranking when you try to start it. If it will not crank over then the aftermarket system is to blame. If it cranks starts and stalls then it's the factory system at fault. and more times than not the ignition lock cylinder housing is the problem with those cars. Good luck :)
