Pontiac Repair: PONTIAC THEFT SYSTEM, battery cables, correct cable

I REPLACED THE BATTERY CABLES AND THEN THE CAR WOULD START BUT NOT STAY STARTED THE THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT WAS BLINKING THEN WE TURNED THE KEY FOR 10 MIN AND TRIED IT AGAIN THIS TIME IT STARTED BUT THEN THE OTHER LIGHTS STARTED GOING ALL CRAZY THESY ALL CAME ON THE ABS THE THEFT THE OIL THE BRAKE LIGHT IT WOULD RUN BUT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD BLINK ON AND OFF AND THE INSIDE LIGHTS WOULD ACT LIKE THEY DIDNT HAVE FULL POWER  I NEED SOME HELP IS THERE ANYTHING THAT COULD BE MAKING THIS HAPPEN?

What year and model car is this? does it have an anftermarket alarm system or remote starter attached to the car? If so I would disconnect that first and foremost. what was wrong with the battery cables? corroded? if so was ther corrosion on anything else? did the ground wire look exactly as the one you took off? If should have had a smaller wire on it as well that was attached to the body of the car or a clamp on the cable that was attached to the body. if the replacement didn't have what the original did look for the correct cable...
