Pontiac Repair: tranny fluid level, axle shaft, transmission fluid

Hi, how do you check the transmission fluid level in a 2000 sunfire with the 2.2L and 4-speed automatic.

Hi Duncan:

the engine and transmission have to be warm and ther is a witness plug on the transmission on the right side "passenger" right blow where the axle shaft comes out of the transmission. it is a 11MM head plug unscrew the plug and the fluid should just dripple out of the hole. the car has to be level and warm to check it. If it's low ther is a red plastic plug on the top of the trasnmission unscrew the plug and add the fluid there.
