Pontiac Repair: 1991 Pontiac Sunbird, pontiac sunbird, 1991 pontiac sunbird

Question
HUUUUUGE question for you, Todd. I have my 1991 Pontiac Sunbird, whose clutch is slipping BAD, but I need to know how to replace the clutch without removing the Engine. I know it's possible, but not sure how to do it. My car, if I'm not mistaken is much different than the Saturn SL...Please help if you can.

Answer
Hi Stephen:

No the engine doesn't have to come out you can take the transmission out of the car and leave the engine in. There are far to many steps to list one here on how to do it. this is a lot different that a staurn to do a clutch. It has a hydrolic clutch set up on it so no adjust mnet will be needed when your all done with it. The most inportant thing here is to make sure you keep the engine supported in the car properly when you take out the transmission It's a dangeous job to be doing on you own with out the proper equipment. You may want to try a gogole search for a proceedure or try autozone.com they have a znet do it your self instructions for jobs but this is a bit to complex I think for ever that as well. But give it a try :)
