Pontiac Repair: electric isse 97 bonneville, speedometer needle, inner fenders

my 1997 bonneville has started an electrical issue...when i hit the brake the speedometer needle will jump and at times the anti-lock brake lite will come on and the chime will chime that there is a warning lite.....i put the vehicle in park and kept my foot on the brake pedal....the speedometer rear i was going 35 miles per hour....i turned on the lights and the anti lock lite appeared and the chime chimed...at this point the needle dropped to zero...this is spuradic issues does not happen all the time....any ideas????

well I think you have an issue here with a bad groud or power feed. What's happening is one component is feed a ground or power through another and cauising the wierd issues you are having. I would fist off look at the connections at the battery make sure they are clean and tight. then look at the grouns wires on the body and at the engine. I believe that ther are 2 sets of them on both front inner fenders on that year car. make sure they are clean and tight. Especiall make sure the ground wire is good from the battery to the body. If this car had a battery issue at one time where it leaked acid into the cables replace which ever one looks bad! good luck :)
