Pontiac Repair: Pontiac Fiero Steering Column, fiero formula, pontiac fiero

I have a very loose steering column in a 1988 Fiero Formula, I honestly don't know where to go with it. Help?

Hi Joe:

does this have a tilt column? if so I assume the top half of the column is loose not the whole thing?? If that is the case the top of the steering column has to be disassembled and there are 4 screws that hold the top half of the column onto the tilt mechanism. over time and the vibration of driving the loosen up. It was pretty common on the older GM cars. if it's not just the top half that's loose it could be a lot of different things from a "rag" joint loose or the mounting bolts that attache the whole column to the dash.
