Pontiac Repair: clock & radio light out, pontiac gran prix, ac delco

Question
I have the same issue with a 1997 Pontiac Gran Prix SE that you answered for a 03. You said that at the dealer you just replace with an exchange unit. Does this mean that the cost is for a complete new unit or is there credit for the exchanged unit?

Answer
Hi Jim:

It works like this the price for a new radio is astrtinomical from GM. so we get them fro man authorized AC DELCO distributor they remanufacture broken ones and sell them back at a fraction of the cost. A remanufactured radio is in the ball park of $200.00 plus the labor. Yes when the reman unit comes in your old one is sent back to the distributor to have that one fixed and so on If you want to keep your old radio they will crarge you a core charge to keep it. If your old one is sent back that charge is waived. Hope that helps you out.
