My blower motor for heater/ac fan only works on speeds higher than 3rd setting. Any help on what the problem might be and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Kevin:

More than likely the blower motor resistor is starting to go bad. eventually only speed #5 will work. it's a pretty common issue. the resistor is attached to the bottom of the HVAC box under the glove box. Get a GM part not aftermarket. the GM part is redesigned and looks different then the original one. that one will not go bad again.

Todd:

I have the same problem that you addressed above. My question is can you give some instructions on how to get to this resister and replace it?

Thank you for any help you can pass on to me. Steve

Answer
Hi Steve:

it' pretty easy on this van. remove the panel on the right side of the dashbaord under the glove box theer are 3 plastic push retainer that hold it on. Then take a look at the bottom of the heater case assebly. Ther is a rectangle shaped piece that is held in to the case with 3 screws that is the blower resistor. it has one plug going into it and one 2 wire harness comming out of it. Unplug the plug going into the resistor and unplug the harness that runs out ot it at the blower motor. the harness has a black and a purple wire. remove the 3 screws and pull the resitor out of the case and reverse the proceedure to intall it back in the van. Use a original equipment GM part for this repair. The part has been redesigned so this will not happen to it again.
Good luck :)
