Pontiac Repair: 2004 Grand Prix Turn Signal Issues, turn signal, flashers

Question
Hello,
I think there is something going on with my car's turn signals.  The computer tells me that the bulbs are out but when I check them, they are fine.  They even light up.  They just seem to refuse to blink.  At this moment I have 2 acting like this - the left front and right rear.  The right front told me 2 times within the past 4 months that it was out as well but seems to be working ok now.  Any thoughts?  I did try resetting the system by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery... it didn't change the symptoms.  Is this a common thing with the 2004 GP?  What is the issue?  I thought maybe a relay but to have 2 of them go 'bad' at the same time seems strange.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions.  Thanks!!

Answer
Hi Lydia:

It can be a few things. first off turn on the 4 way flashers and walk around the car and comapir the right to left sides both front and back. If any one or more of the bulbs are not working then replace the bulbs first. If any of the bulbs light up but seem dimmer than the others that would indicate a bad connection somewhere for that lamp. These are were noted for front turn signal harnesses filling up with water and then the conenction would corrode and it will cause all kinds of issues. Latly if all the lamps light up and are bright I would tend to lean towards maybe a turn signal falsher element with on this car is the same one for the 4 ways as well it just uses a different part in the fasher for the turn then when you use the 4 way. Good luck :}
