Pontiac Repair: Pontiac Grand Am Se, quad 4 engine, pontiac grand am

Question
I have a 93 Pontiac Grand Am Se with a quad 4 engine.  I am having a problem with it running and then it dies.  I can't get it started back unless I jump it or spray with starting fluid.  The instant I do either one it starts right back.  I have checked a few sensors and having problems can anyone make suggestions please.

Answer
Hi Rick;

Well if it runs on starter fluid the the issue here is fuel related. either delivery or volume. The volume part may be a bad fuel pump put a gauge on this engine and see what the pressure reading is. I belive that engine is in the 34-38 PSI range if it's in that ball park give or take a few pounds it should at least run but maybe not all that well. If if has pressure the the issue is delivery meaning that maybe the computer is not commanding on the injectors. get a tool called a noid lite. unplug each inject and plug the light into the harness where the injectors would plug in crank the car and see if the light flashes if not the computer is not commanding fuel delivery and that can be for an number of reasons. At least this is a start. good luck :)
