Pontiac Repair: 1997 Bonneville misses in overdrive, torque converter clutch, mass air flow

Question
My 1997 Bonneville misses while in overdrive when I accelerate slightly.  I watch the rpm rise and fall up to 200 rpm.  If I accelerate to kick down gear it goes away.  I have replaced and checked coil packs, wires and plugs.  I also just replaced the fuel pump and filter.  This does not seem to be an issue if I drive it without overdrive.  Oh yes, I also removed and cleaned the MAF sensor.  There is approx. 125,000 miles on it.

Answer
Hi Scott:

You may not have an engine missfire it may be a issue with the transission. when this happens drive it ay a steady speed and tap the brake pedal while keeping steady pressure on the gas pedal. if the problem stops it's an issue with the torque converter clutch or the gear the transmission is in. It could alos still be an engine misfire but at least if you try that you can rule out the trasnmission as a possable cause. if it still does it try driving the car with the mass air flow sesnor disconnected all togehter and drive it.  Good luck :}
