Pontiac Repair: i need help, grand am gt, auto zone

Question
hi i just bought a 96' grand am gt 3.1.  when i bought it we found the water pump leaking, so we changed it.  then we found the timing chain gasket was leaking so we fixed that.  Then the antifreeze started bubbling out the cap of the resevior tank.  We changed the therostat, and it was still doing it.  We brang it to a garage and they burbed the ratatior.  It's not over heating, or smoking.  My check engine and coolant lights r still on.  We unplugged the battery and the lights are still on.  We took it to auto zone to put it on the computer and they said it was the gps, map, throttle sencors.  they said if they were all bad my car shouldn't be running.  So we are totally stumped. I hope you can help me.

Answer
Hi Jessica:

well first off what I would do is go back to auto zone and have them read and clear the codes. Most of the code readers will clear codes. after they are cleared out see what if any codes come back on.. disconnecting the battery will not clear the codes out of the newer engine computers they have to cleared with a code reader or scan tool. If any of these come back again then start from there as to what the issue could be. You could have one of those sensors going/gone bad and it will effect the other ones. Good luck :}
