Pontiac Repair: Wiring Issue, fuel level sensor, fog lamps

Question
hi todd-i just bought a 2002 bonnevile and notice that the gauges and wiring seem to be off. the gas gauge travels as i accelerate and decelerate, the fog lamps do not work and when you press the button to turn them on the dash lights come on. also, the light knobs dont seem to do anything at all. is al of this something i should be concerned with and if so can a local dealer rewire the car? the car otherwise runs and drives perfectly.

Answer
Hi Nicole:

I think you have 2 different problems here. the gas gauge is a fuel level sensor in the gas tank that has gone bad and I think you have a issue with the lamps switch. the fog lamps and interior dimming switchs are all part of the same piece you may just have an issue with that switch and it could be as easy as just replacing that or a bit more in depth. Good luck :}
