Pontiac Repair: problems with the rear drums or bearings, rear shoes, rear drums

Question
i have a 2004 Sunfire. bought it brand new. well i changed front pads and rear shoes last august, because they began to squeak and shake. Well a month later the drums in back started making a grinding sound and kept shaking. well i ignored the noise,so a month ago i finally had some extra money and put the best pads and shoes on it. I also replaced rotors and drums. Well, guess what...two wks. later the same thing is happening in the back. it makes a grinding noise and its shaking again. I'm lost what can it be?

Answer
Hi Mirtha:

A few things. When you replaced the rear shoes and drums buying the best parts is not ALWAYS the best bet. I would recomend you get ceramic lining for the rear. if you got semi metalic they make noise it's just the way it is. It' the material the pads are made of. when you replaced the drums did you clean the wheel bear surfaces off good where the drum sits on? If not afet ra few heat cycles that surface not being clean and straight the new drums will warp. I would have the new drums turned, Clean the hubs and get different shoes and see if that help things out. Also make sure the rear wheel cylinders are not leaking.
Good luck :)
