Pontiac Repair: 93 grand am 3.3L, mass air flow, crank sensor

Question
I have a 93 Grand Am and when it starts it runs rough back fires and then dies. The crank sensor is new plugs and wires are new, the coil packs and control board are new, it has good fuel pressure (40   psi) fuel filter is new, air filter is new, oil pressure sensor is new. All this was done before I got the car and I'm just trying to figure it out. Is there a cam sensor that I'm not seeing? Do you think that could be the problem? I know it has to be something simple, this thing is driving me crazy!!!! please help.

Answer
Hi Caleb:

Yes it does have a cam sensor but if that were bad you would have a service engine soon light on. Is it? If so do you know what codes if any that are in the engine computer? You may want to try something simple.. Unplug the mass air flow sesnor on the throttle body and run the car. That sensor is a big black plastic square piece with one plug on it that has 3 wires. the car should run with it unplugged but it will hesitate pretty bad but see if the other problem is gone. good luck :}
