Pontiac Repair: 95 Bonneville SSE, fuse block, climate control

Question
QUESTION: I have a 95 Bonne SSE with 3.8L. The heater blower motor does not work at all. Is there a relay that would control that as I cannot find a fuse for it? If so which one is it (out under the hood?) The diagram that tells what each one does is gone. do I check this first or go to the switch and check the voltages there, or just at the motor itself? Thanks this is a great site!!!

ANSWER: Hey david.

I belive on that year Bonneville if your car has auto climate control which I'm sure it does being that it's an sse the blower motor is controlled by a blower motor control module which is controlled by the HVAC control head. It's a pretty complex system. It's sort of high tech. The fuse for the motor is in the right hand fuse block under the glove box. but you can try this get a 12 volt test light and turn on the car and the fan on high unplug the motor and check to see if you have near battery voltage across the purple and black wires if you do then the motors it's self is bad. if not then you have one of the other components bad on this car. But you'll need a service manual with a wiring diagram to figure it out. The automatic system doesn't not utilize a relay it's integral to the blower control module :( and it's a big buck part too and a dealer only item :( ! Good luck Sorry I couldn't help you out more... Your right about this site I found it over the summer time and needed some advice about a broken ankle and foot I suffered and while I was off from work with nothing to do I decided to try being "an expert"

QUESTION: I don't think it has auto climate control. is there anything different about the old fashioned system with knobs to control the motor speeds?

Answer
Yes the blowr system is completely different between a manual system and auto climate control the manual system utilizes a relay and a blower resistor where with the auto stsrem it's all in one module. If you buy a good repair manaul it will show you the differences. either a "motor" manual or "Chiltons" or even if you know someone that has a repair shop they more than likely subscribe to a web based manual called "all data" Good luck :)
