Pontiac Repair: Pontiac Sunfire 2003 steering, pontiac sunfire, flow test

Question
My steering wheel makes a small grinding noise when turning the wheel. I took it into the shop and for $260.00, they replaced some kind of coupling inside the column. It still makes the noise. The fluid is fine. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Donald:

Usually that part that you mentioned fixes the issue but it's usually a clunk/knock noise. If it makes a grinding noise or a whine noise it's an issue with the hydraulic system. Either the fluid is low or there is a restriction in the system or the pump is starting to go bad. If that were the case a pressure/flow test needs to be done to see what the issue may be. Good luck :)
