Pontiac Repair: ocassional stalling and jerk, fuel pressure regulator, coolant leak

Question
I have a 2000 Pontiac bonneville, it ocassionally stalls and jerk (every now and then), I have researched some and could it be the fuel pressure regulator or do I need a new fuel pump. I went to a GM dealer about 2 months ago to get a oil change and that told that me that I needed and new lower and upper intake sskt 2 coolant pipes 1 GMS and 2 Dexcool. What really is that for. Please help me

Answer
Hi Barbra:

Yes a fuel pressure regulator can make this car stall and jerk. there was actually a recall on that part for that car but not all of them. call your local dealer and give then the VIN # for the car and they can tell you if yours was included in the recall and if your not the original owner if it had ever been done if this one was included in the recall. As for the coolant leak Yes the upper intake plenium's warp on these engines they are made of plactic and the constant heat cycles of heating and cooling make the plastic distort and then they leak. The Lower inatke manifold on these engines leak oil and need the gasket's replaced and the pipe is something that is made of plastic as well and they get brittle and when they are taken apart more times than not the break off. Hope that helps you out. Good luck and happy 4'th weekend!
