Pontiac Repair: 2000 Alero 2.4 L, front wheel bearings, water corrosion

Question
Hi Todd.
My brake light and antilock brake light are both on. When they first went on I replaced both wheel bearings on the front, replaced the calipers, rotors, and pads. The electrical connections on the wheel bearings are hooked up.  Any dea what the problem could be? Could the problem be in the rear brakes? Are there sensors in the rear?
Thanks for your help.
Rick

Answer
Hey Rick:

Does the light come on right away when the car is started up or do you have to start moving before it lights up? Is the brake fluid full in the master cylinder? If the lamp comes on right away there is either an EBCM "control module" failure or wiring issue somewhere to that module. if you have to start moving before it comes on then you more that laikely have a wheel speed sensor issue. Yes there are sensors on all for wheel bearings. These cars are noted for front wheel bearings going bad which you said you chnaged already. The harnesses for the front sensors go bad form the constant moving up and down from the suspension. If you live in the rust belt like I do and this car has a lot of miles on it the EBCM goes bad due to water/corrosion intrusion into the module. What you need is for someone to scan this for codes and see what direction to take. A lot of car parts stores do this for FREE give them a try to see what the code is and start from there. Good luck :)
