Pontiac Repair: vaporlock ???, temp guage, fan clutch

Question
1993 pontiac grand am v6 3300 motor.
The temp guage reads 400( or in the middle of the guage )
and the fan clutch is running coolant over flows the fill tank with the cap on.

Answer
Hi Denis:

well you could have an air pocket in the system somewhere if it was low on coolant at one time. The temp guage could be off It shouldn't be over heating and pushing coolnat out if the temp is in the normal range. It could have a bad pressure cap or you could have a flow issue with either a water pump or a thermostat that is not opening in conjeuction with a temp gauge that's off...
