Pontiac Repair: pontiac grand am 24v.twin cam, pontiac grand am, dasboard


Question
1998 grand am wont start .It start for a second and dies.
Changed coil pack.No computer codes.Once I had all lights on the dasboard on for a month but car was runing.
Fuel pump works.
Any help please.

Well if it starts then stalls I would lean towards the factory anti-theft system. if the security lamp is on or is flashing that is a dead give a way. If not then you could have some sort of a power issue maybe a bad ignition switch not powering upp all the fuses correctly. with the key in the run position check to make sure you have battery volatge on ALL of the fuses. use a volt meter. If any of the fuses have less than battery volatge then I would look at an igniton switch... On last thing could be some sort of a computer communication issue. That fact that all the lamps have been on you may have one of the class 2 computer/modules bad and the computers will not comminicate with each other and that is why the car will start and stall. It will act just like a anti-tehft system failure. Now that I confused you even more! It's gotta be one of those things... Good luck :)
