Pontiac Repair: 1998 Bonneville shifting problem, power boost, extra power

Question
QUESTION: My 1998 Bonneville SSEI Supercharger won't go into Park, the shifter goes into park but the car only goes in Reverse, Neutral or Drive.

ANSWER: Hi Brenda:

It sounds to me like the shifter cable came out of adjustment or something in the linkage is bent or broken. The shifter inside the car is connected to the transmission via a cable. Ther is an adjustment on that cable to allow the transmission to be in the gear to match what the shift selector in the car is in. Either the cable came out of adjustment or sometthing in the linkage either in the shift selector in the car or out on the transmission is bent. Without seeing it it's hard to say for sure what the problem is.

QUESTION: I fixed that problem but now the Supercharger is going out.  Is there a way to bypass the Supercharger, and if so, how do i do it? 1998 Bonneville SSEI (Engine: 3.8L V6 MFI OHV SPRCH).

Answer
What do you mean the super charger is going out? you can run that engine with the belt off the super charger. it will run fine it just will not have the extra power/boost it would if the super charger was hooked up and running. The intake air jusat goes through the super charger and into the engine if the belt is taken off.
