Pontiac Repair: tail lights dash lights and gas gauge, gas gauge, dash lights

Question
I have a 1995 Bonneville 3800 V6...my tail lights and dash lights stopped working checked all the fuses on driverside & under hood & all were good...1 bulb out changed it still did not work...then yesterday they started working again...now my gas gage will just randomly go past full after a little bit (1 minute or less) it will go back to where it is supposed to be and it will repeat this from time to time...help please my husband just bought this car for me and I love it I want to keep everything in perfect working order

Answer
Hi again:

It could be a lot of different things. As for the gas gauge it could be the gauge it's self or the sending unit in the tank bad. as for the lights if none of them work tail/dash lamps and all the fuses are good I would suspect either a bad switch. if you had fronts and not rear I would look at a ground issue. The fact that none of them work would lead me to look at a power supply issue if not the fuse then the next thing to look at would be the switch. if you take the switch out and turn on the lamps with the lamp still plugged in and on there is a brown wire that is the parking lamps circuit it should have power on it.
