1997 Pontiac Bonneville SSe - when the radio is turned on there is a lot of noise but the antenna never extends out of the car so the radio gets no reception.  The motor is trying to work but never quite makes it

Hi Al:

the antenna mast broke off inside the motor. I do not think that GM services the mast seperatly anymore. they make a universal replacment to replace the one in the car. it comes with a couple of brackets to make the antenna fit that car. It's been a while since I changed one of them.. at one time you could get get the mast by it's self.
