Land Rover Repair: 06 LR3 A/C Issues, sensor readings, autologic

Question
When I drive my LR3 on the highway or interstate for somewhat longer periods of the time the A/C system fails.

A good example is from yesterday. I drove about 60 plus miles on the interstate and after about an hour the system failed. If it is set to "auto" the air quits blowing and if you change it over to manual the system will blow somewhat, but not hard and it isn't cold. I pulled into a parking lot and my wife sat in the car. The air began working again, but as soon as we got back on the road, and went for about an hour, again it failed.

If I shut off the whole system while driving for a period of time, it will begin working again, but fail within a very short period of time.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this strange failure. I drive home everyday in 90 plus heat and it blows cold and hard, or driving around town or anywhere with lots of starts and stops for the same period of time and I haven't had the failure.

Any ideas will much appreciated. Keep on rovin'.

Answer
I do not know what's wrong, but I do know how to find out . . .The Autologic or IDS testers both have live data display. I'd connect the tester and drive the car till it failed, and then look at the sensor readings.  I believe they will tell the story.  I don't know any other efficient way to attack this problem.
