Pontiac Repair: 1987 Pontiac Firebird Throttle cable, port fuel injection, pontiac firebird

Question
QUESTION: My gas pedal sticks to the floor.  I've tried taking the top of the multi port fuel injection off and spraying it with WD-40, but nothing works.  Is it hard to have to replace the cable (if you think that's what it needs)?

ANSWER: Hey Ray:

Well first off try to isolate what the problem is is it the pedal, the throttle body or the cable. disconnect the cable from the throttle body and move the linaged on the throttle body it will be stiff because of the spring but it shouldn't stick in any position it should return to the closed position. with the cable disconnect from the pedal it should move and with the cable disconnected it may rop to the floor it shouldn't bind. if both side move okay it's the cable. replacing the cable is easy if you have is diconnect already at both ends. Good luck :)

QUESTION: If the throttle body you refer to, is the "lever" that I turn down and upwards to rev the engine, yes, it was able to open and close once I removed the cable from it.  How do I remove the cable from the gas pedal?  And if it is the cable that's sticking, how do I pull it out (it obviously is catching some where in between the housing and into the car through the firewall).  Any detailed help you could provide would be greatly apprecaited.  Thanks.

Answer
Yes the lever is on the throttle body.

The cable is attached to the gas pedal by a plastic clip it has more the likely 2 tabs you have to squeeze together and either pull the cable out or push it once the tabe are compressed together. the cable goes through the fire wall of the car the same way the tabe are in the inside of the car you compress the tabs and have a helper pull the cable out from under the hood.
