Pontiac Repair: 2001 Trans am O2 sensor, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
QUESTION: My check engine light is on and after having it checked it comes up with "O2 sensors are not varying high to low". The car has after market headers on it and both sensors were changed 8 months ago .How can I fix this ?

ANSWER: Hey Danno:

Well it can be 2 bad sensors again but I doubt it unless they are aftermarket ones. Are the sensors dead maning that hey are stuck at a steady voltage? Or do they change very slowly? IUf they change very slowly it can be the position they are in in the headers to far away from the engine. If they are just dead it can be a computer issue or a wiring issue going to the sesnors. The heaters in the sesnor may have gone bad as well or even the fues for them. With aftermarket headers on the engine is is possable that the harness's may have come in contact with the exhaust and melted??? These are the issues That I can think of right now.

Good luck :)

QUESTION: Hi Again - changed one sensor and hooked up code reader and now have two new problems . Fault p0803 - 1-4 upshift sol. circuit malfuntion and fault p1153 - manufacturer control fuel air metering . This car is a six speed with an aftermarket LS-6 motor .Thanks for such a prompt reply !

Answer
Well that 1-4 upshift solenoid is for the skip shift option on the transmission. If you unplugged the solenoid on the transmission it will set that code. As for the 1153 that is I think for the mass air flow sensor... if you have a ram air or cold air intake system on the car it could cause that code to set expecially if the sensor is not in it's original position.
