Pontiac Repair: 1995 pont, bonneville, cv joints, cv joint

Question
What happens is sometimes when I take off from a dead start,
I get a poping sound from either the transmission or the cv joint.Which one should I check?
Need to know since I plan on putting money in this car

Thanks,

Answer
Hi Gerald:

First off this car is almost 14 years old so any kind of expensive repair is not a great idea or a good investment. Now for the noise If it were a CV joint it would have to be really really bad to hear it going in a straight line. Usually Cv joints are noisey more so on sharp turns. I would lean more towards a transmission concern or a engine/transmission mount that has broken. You can try this shifting from park to drive and drive to reverse while stepping on the brake and give it a bit of gas so it shifts harder going into gear if you hear it it's more than likely a mount. jusm make sure you don't run into anything Set that parking brake to if it still works and is not seixed up. If you don't hear it it's not a mount issue I would lean more towards an internal transmission issue like slipping etc.... Good luck :)
