Pontiac Repair: 95 Grand Am A/C Not Working, hvac control, scan tool

Question
I have a 95 Grand Am with a 3.1 V6, 136,000 miles. The A/C compressor does not run, I have checked the voltage at the compressor plug and there is none. I changed relay and checked fuses. Still no power to compressor. I am not sure were to look next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi rick:

well that car is to old for me to look up a wiring diagram on the net. Does the system have refrigerant in it? if the systm is low the computer will inhibit the compressor from turning on. My guess is that system usues as pressure sensor on the high side to allow the computer to know if ther is enough pressure in the system to allow it to turn on. Also the aid of a scan tool to see in the computer is getting the input from the HVAC control head to turn the compressor on. these are just a few of the possabilities. Good luck :)
