Pontiac Repair: 1995 pontiac firebird transmission, pontiac firebird, technicain

Transmission starts off in 2nd and you have to manually upshift and downshift but it won't downshift into first automatically or manually. Would it help to reset the computer and how to do that.

I'm not a transmission technicain But I'll try my best to help you out. Does the transmission have 3 and 4'th gears? If so I wouls venture to say there is a porblem with the valve body in the transmission. If it doesn't have 3'rd or 4'th I would say you have a issue with one of the shift solenoids in the transmission or a power and or ground issue to that shift solenoid. Either way the transmission is going to have to come apart at least partially to find out what is going on with it. Good luck :)
