Pontiac Repair: Grand Prix will not come out of park, gran prix gtp, blown fuse

Hi,
My 1997 Gran Prix GTP will not come out of Park.  I have to use the Shift release lock to get it out of park.  My mechanic tried replacing the brake switch but that did not help.  Ant suggestions?  thank you.

it can be a buch of things.from a blown fuse to a bad park neutral switcha on the transmission to a broken wire at the shifter assembly on the floor or the solenoid in the shifter assembly being bad. It's hard to say for sure but I would lean to a broken wire at the shifter or the shifter it's self. those are the 2 most common issue with that car.
