Nissan Repair: 2005 Nissan Xterra stalling, 2005 nissan xterra, nissan xterra

Question
My Xterra has started stalling during idle, and sometimes during low speed travel.  Recent event, started intermittently, getting worse, vehicle has 80k miles and has run perfectly since I bought it. I installed a "chip" device at the IAT sensor at about 50k miles (when I bought it), but it has run without flaw since then...18 months ago. The chip did boost the mileage buy the way, I just got 22+ mpg on a long road trip.  This problem feels like a fuel delivery issue to me, but I don't see the inline Fuel Filter listed as a serviceable part in my Haynes Repair Manual.  Air filter appears pretty clean, but I have not replaced it since 50k.  All vacuum lines appear OK.  Suggestions?

Answer
Joe,

Replace the air filter, plugs, cap and rotor.  Add Lucas to the fuel and use a couple of tanks of premium fuel to clean things out.  Nissan decided to delete the fuel filter so your injectors get hit with all that crud that the filter used to catch.  Also, clean the throttle body with an aersol cleaner and reinstall the air inlet tube.  The engine will be difficult to start since you have flooded it with the cleaner.  After it starts it will clear up.  If all of this does not correct the problem you are looking at the idle air control valve as the most common problem for the stalling problem.
