Pontiac Repair: 97 transport, pontiac transport, tail lamps

I HAVE A 97 PONTIAC TRANSPORT AND THE THE MAIN BRAKE LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON. I NOTICE THE BACK LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE. I CHECKED THE FUSE AND LIGHT BULBS AND ALL OF THEM SEEMS TO BE FINE. HELP!!!!!IS THERE A LIGHT RELAY FOR THIS SYSTEM. OH! BY THE WAY THE REVERSE LIGHT IS ALSO NOT FUNCTIONING..PLEASE ADVICE

More than likely you have either bqd circuit boards or a bad ground to the rear tail lamps. they come hand and hand on that van. Usually the tail lamp circuit boards overheat and melt the connector going into the boards. remove the tail lamps and unplug the connctors and take a look to see if they look melted. If so replace the boards and the wire connectors. If the connectors are not bad then remove the bulbs and look at where they plug inot the boards you will find the ends melted on the bulbs as well. if that's the case gte new bulbs and baords. that should fix you up.
