Pontiac Repair: IAT SENSOR LOCATION, surge performance chip, liter v6

Question
I recently bought a surge performance chip for my 2002 pontiac grand am gt and i hooked it up to the sensor on the intake tube of my 3.4 liter v6 is this the iat sensor and if so why did my service engine soon light come on it doesnt need an oil change i just did it two days ago

Answer
Hey Mike:

Yes that is the IA senstor in the bellows boot between the air filter and the engine. did the SES or SVS light come on. if it's a Service Engine Soon light then maybe that kit you put on caused the issue? The wires in the connector for the IA sensor are very touchey if you wiggle them to much they break off in the connector. If it's a Service Vehicle Soon light it cand be a lot of things from a burnt out headlamp bulb to thruning on along with the SES light. The oil change light may not have been reset at the last oil chnage and it just happned to come on.. Hope that helps. Good luck :}
